Beginner Basics Part 1
Start with the right foundations.
Learning the foundations
Beginner Basics Part 1 is a five-session structured course designed to give complete beginners the solid foundations they need to start playing confidently. We’ll cover forehand and backhand technique, introduce consistent ball-feeding drills, and incorporate game play so you start learning match skills early.
This session is perfect for
- Complete beginners starting from scratch
- New players who want to learn properly from the beginning
- Anyone who wants a fun, structured route into social or club tennis

Who books the tennis courts?
By default, players book and pay for courts using the LTA website or free Booker App.
Please check with me before booking, as some venues restrict coaching.
How far do you travel?
I’m based in East Ham (Zone 3) and normally travel up to 40 minutes by public transport.
Exceptions may be possible, just ask.
What should I bring or wear?
1. Comfortable sports clothing.
2. Sports shoes only (no barefoot, sandals, sliders, heels, or Crocs). Unsafe footwear may lead to cancellation without credit/refund.
3. A tennis racket (or one can be provided).
4. A water bottle.
5. Any medication you need (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens, insulin/gel packs). This is part of our duty of care to keep you safe.
What if it rains or is too hot?
Sessions may be cancelled up to 3 hours before start if heavy rain or unsafe heat (30°C+ between 11am–3pm) is forecast.
Cancelled sessions will be credited for re-booking.
If weather turns unsafe mid-session, the coach may stop play. Remaining time may be credited at the coach’s discretion.
Court fees are not normally refunded for weather. Please check with the court provider.
What if I’m late?
Player late: Send a message or call the coach. The session continues for the remaining time. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late without any notification, the session is cancelled and counted as used.
Coach late: Notify player by message or call. If the coach can’t extend, they’ll offer a discount code, credit or make up the time at future sessions. This will be at the coach’s discretion.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel 24+ hours before session start time then you will receive credit to re-book.
Cancel less than 24 hours or no-show then no credit/refund (unless agreed at the coach’s discretion).
Private group sessions:
1. Lead booker to inform coach that whole group wants to cancel. If proper notice (as highlighted above) is given then credit will be provided.
2. If only 1 player cancels, but the remaining players want to play then the session will still run if lead booker of the group confirms. No partial credit/refund will be given to the player that is unable to make it.
What if I can’t use my remaining sessions?
Unused sessions after expiry are lost (“use it or lose it”).
Expiry periods start from receipt of payment:
Single session → 60 days
Block booking → 90 days
Beginner course → 120 days
Bulk booking → 180 days
If you can’t use your sessions, we’ll review the situation on a case by case basis. Sessions are transferrable but please get prior approval from coach. If this is not an option for you, then a partial refund may be offered with a 50% penalty fee plus a £15 admin fee.
Can I transfer my session to someone else?
Yes, sessions may be transferred to a family member or friend with prior approval.
This must be arranged at least 24 hours before the session.
Why might my session be cancelled?
1. Payment not made on time.
2. Player cancellation.

4. Coach cancellation (e.g., illness, logistical issues, low attendance for social sessions).

Yes, within 14 days of payment (sessions) or 14 days of delivery (products).
