Tennis Racket Hire Policy

Version 1 | Published: 07/02/2026

This policy outlines the terms and conditions for hiring tennis rackets and balls from Supercharge Athletes. By hiring equipment, customers agree to comply with this policy.

1. Eligibility and Responsibility

  1. Equipment hire is available to adults aged 18 years and over.
  2. Adult customers may hire adult rackets for their own use.
  3. Junior rackets may be hired for use by junior players, however:
    1. The hire must be completed by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over.
    2. The adult named on the hire accepts full responsibility for the equipment throughout the hire period
  4. Equipment will not be hired directly to minors

2. Hire Deposit

  1. A refundable deposit is required at the time of hire.
  2. £20 deposit covers:
    1. Up to 2 rackets (adult and/or junior)
    2. Up to 4 tennis balls
  3. If more than 2 rackets are requested, the deposit increases to £35.
  4. Deposits are held as security against loss, theft, or damage.
  5. The deposit will be refunded in full once all equipment is returned in acceptable condition, in line with this policy.

3. Hire Period and Start Time

  1. Standard hire duration is up to 24 hours.
  2. The hire period begins at the agreed date and time of collection.
  3. This start time determines when the equipment must be returned.
  4. Equipment may be returned earlier if no longer required.
  5. Late returns may result in part or full forfeiture of the deposit.
  6. Where equipment is returned more than 1 hour after the agreed return time, a £5 late return charge will usually be deducted from the deposit. Further delays (2 hours or more) may result in additional deductions at the organisation’s discretion.

4. Use of Equipment

  1. Equipment is provided for normal recreational tennis play.
  2. Customers must:
    1. Take reasonable care of all hired equipment.
    2. Use equipment only for its intended purpose.
    3. Not modify, restring, or alter rackets in any way.
    4. Not lend or transfer equipment to another person.
  3. Where junior rackets are hired, the supervising adult remains responsible for correct and safe use.

5. Condition of Equipment

  1. All equipment is checked prior to hire.
  2. Customers are responsible for the equipment throughout the hire period.
  3. On return, equipment must be:
    1. Clean
    2. In good working condition
    3. Free from cracks or structural damage
  1. Normal wear and tear (such as light scuffing or grip wear from standard play) is acceptable.

6. Loss or Damage

  1. The customer is responsible for any loss, theft, or damage occurring during the hire period.
  2. If equipment is:
    1. Lost
    2. Stolen
    3. Returned with significant damage

the deposit may be retained in full or in part to cover repair or replacement costs.

  1. Where a junior racket is hired, the deposit-holding adult will be liable for any loss or damage, regardless of who was using the equipment at the time.
  2. If repair or replacement costs exceed the deposit amount, the customer may be required to cover the additional cost.

7. Failure to Collect Equipment

  1. If advanced payment has been made and the hirer fails to collect the equipment at the agreed date and time, the hire will still be treated as booked.
  2. The deposit will be refunded in full provided the equipment has not been collected or issued.
  3. Failure to collect does not automatically cancel the hire unless notice has been given in line with the cancellation policy below.

8. Cancellation

  1. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the agreed collection time.
  2. A £1 administration fee is charged for cancellations if payment has already been taken in advance.
  3. Any remaining deposit balance will be refunded.
  4. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before collection, or failure to attend without notice, may result in the hire fee remaining payable.

9. Liability

  1. All equipment is used at the customer’s own risk
  2. Supercharge Athletes accepts no responsibility for:
    1. Injury sustained while using hired equipment
    2. Loss or damage to personal belongings
  3. Nothing in this policy excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

10. Right to Refuse or Withdraw Hire

  1. Supercharge Athletes reserves the right to:
    1. Refuse equipment hire at its discretion.
    2. Withdraw hired equipment if misuse or breach of this policy is suspected.
